Tansey, Patrick: "The Perils of Prosopography: The Case of the Cornelii Dolabellae", Zeitschrift für Papyrologie und Epigraphik 130 (2000) 265–271
Argues that the imperial Dolabellae descend from the cos 35BC, since cos 44BC was Plebeian by adoption. However cos 44's eldest son was born prior to 48 and
could have been manumitted prior to adrogatio and thus kept his Patrican status, or 44's descendents could have been adlected into Patriciate as were many
plebeian nobilis families. He also suggests that the cos 35BC was the son of the pr 69, and the cos 44 had another father.
