Notes: Much debate on the stemma of the Metilii from Novaria. I have followed Werner Eck in the RE supplement.
Settipanni suggests that the cos 157 could be a son of the frater Arvalis who died in 118, and the frater a brother of the cos 123. All guesswork; we need new evidence.
Note M. Sedatius Severianus Iulius Acer Metilius Nepos Rufinus Ti. Rutilianus Censor (S306) cos suff 153, who must be related to a Metilius Nepos.
Note P. Cassius P.f. (trib. Claudia) Dexter Augus[tanus Alpi]nus Bellicius Sollers Metilius [Secund (?)]us Rutilianus, cos suff c.151,
who was tr mil III Aug 121-123 under P. Metilius Secundus M549

he argues that the cos suff 103 was Sabinus and thus the frater Arvalis, and that the cos suff 91 is the cos II 128).

Settipani: Continuite (2000) p.225-226 suggests how M. Metilius Aquillius Regulus M540 might be connected to the Aquillii; not followed below;
p.252-253 suggests Metilius cos 103 128 could be the son of cos 91, and not his brother or cousin and cos suff 123 his son. He proposes a Pontia as mother of cos 123;
p.255 suggestions how Volusius Torquatus could be part of name of cos 157 via a grandmother Volusia (Aquillia's mother married to a M. Aquillius Regulus).
