Bastianini, G: "Lista dei prefetti d'Egitto dal 30a al 299p", in ZPE Bd. 17 (1975), p268 (Q. Ostorius Scapula, he identifies him with the PP)
Birley: Roman Government of Britain (2005) p.25-31 (§2 (P. Ostorius Scapula, governor of Brit 47-52), p.278 (M. Ostorius Scapula, tr laticlav in Britannia c.48)
Christol, M. and Demougin, S.: "Notes de prosopographie équestre",  in ZPE, Bd.57, 1984, p.171-178 on gens Ostoria (stemma p.177),
inserting Q. Ostorius Scapula from AE1980-907 (cos suff with a C. Selius Rufus, ? = C. Caelius Rufus in 17 AD) as father of cos suff 41.
Eck, Werner: "Ergänzungen zu den Fasti Consulares des 1. und 2. Jh.n.Chr.", in Historia, Bd. 24, (1975), p.342 shows an Ostorius Scapula must be cos suff in 41. He
He believed it was Publius (O164), though a later inscription (AE1973-152) shows the consul to be a Quintus.
Eck, Werner: "Prokonsuln von Asia in der flavisch-traianischen Zeit", in ZPE Bd.45, 1982, p.141-145 dates the proconsulate of Asia of M. (Ostorius)
Scapula to 114/115. He prefers 98 (not 97) as date of his suffect consulate.
Eck, Werner: " Ein Militärdiplom trajanischer Zeit aus dem pannonischen Raum", in Kölner Jahrbuch, Band 26, 1993, p.445-450 (new military diploma
gives the name of two suffect consuls of September 99: (Ostorius ) Scapula and (C. Fulvius Gillo Bittius) Proculus; thus year is not 97 or 98 but 99).
Eck: Fasten der Statthalter 1.teil, (1982), p.357 (M. (Ostorius) Scapula, Asia 114/115)
Hanson, Ann Ellis: "Publius Ostorius Scapula: Augustan Prefect of Egypt", in ZPE, Bd.47, 1982, p.243-253. New papyrus gives praenomen Publius to the
praef Aegypt of 3-10/11 AD, thus making him a brother of the PP of 2 BC.
Hanson, Ann Ellis: "Two Copies of a Petition to the Prefect", in ZPE, Bd.47, 1982, p.233-243 analyses the papyrus of 9-10 AD to P. Ostorius Scapula).

Remy: Carrieres Senatoriales (1989) p.175 (§147 M. Ostorius Scapula as governor of Galatia, possible but no evidence), p.353 (Ostorius as governor of Cilicia)
Rutledge: Imperial Inquisitions (2001) p.251 (§67 Ostorius Sabinus , accuser of Barea Soranus in 66),
Sherk: Legates of Galatia (1952) p.31 (M. Ostorius Scapula, governor ?, but no actual evidence, except a Ti. Claudius Scapula who could have taken
his cognomen from a governor.)
Sherk: Galatia, governors 25 BC to AD 114 (1980) p.1039 (still no evidence that M. Ostorius Scapula was governor of Galatia).

Syme, Ronald: "The Ummidii", in  Historia 17, vol.168, p.79 (also Roman Papers vol.2, p.666) discusses the hypothesis of Sallustia Calvina as wife of P. Ostorius Scapula.
praef Aegypti or his son the later governor of Britannia.
Szramkiewicz: Gouverneurs Vol.2  (1972) p.481 (Q. Ostorius Scapula, PP 2 BC; mistakenly identifies him as the praef Aegypti)
Tortotiello: Fasti Consolari di Claudio (2004) p.533-535 (§45 P. Ostorius Scapula, cos suff 41/45, leg Brit 47), p.535-536 (§46 Q. Ostorius Scapula, cos suff 41 or 44?)
Wachtel, K.: "Ostorii Scapulae", in Acta Archaeologica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae, vol. XLI (1989), p.p.241-246. His conclusion is that there is no room for
a consul pair Q. Ostorius Scapula / Caelius Rufus (Selius Rufus) under Tiberius. C. Selius Rufus must be an error for P. Suillius Rufus and the pair were
coss suffecti in early period of Claudius. He suggest that O164 and O166 were brothers, sons of the praef Aegypti Publius. He prefers Sallustia Calvina
to be the daughter of C. Sallustius Crispus, the great eques of Augustus.
