Notes: No Imperial senatorial Plaetorii, but imperial Platorii exist and have been included now; their nomen is also spelled Plaetorius on brick-stamps
However there is no relationship between the Republican Plaetorii and imperial Platorii.
That A. Platorius Nepos cos suff 119 probably derived from Baetica is due to his early friendship with emperor Hadrian (from Italica in Baetica), they shared the
same tribus Sergia, and the existance of a local Platorius Nepos from Baetica.
Literature Alföldy: Konsulat (1977) p.175-6, 291,  316 (A. Platorius Nepos Calpurnianus cos suff 160)
Balil, A.: "Les Empereurs romains d'Espagne", 1965, p.85 mentions an unpublished inscription with a Platorius Nepos II vir at Cordoba.
Birley: Roman Government of Britain (2005) p.119-124 (A. Platorius Nepos cos suff 119; detailed career description; he does not identify the tr pl Pollio with him)
Brennan: Praetorship (2000) p.532-533 (M. Plaetorius M.f. Cestianus RE16; his governorship of Macedon is not fully attested)

Franke: Legionslegaten (1991) p.16-17 (A. Platorius Nepos cos suff 119)
Gordon, Arthur E.: "A. Platorius Nepos as Tribunus Plebis", in JRS vol.Vol. 48, 1958, pp. 47-48, believes he is a C. Licinius Pollio adopted by an A. Plaetorius.
Hinard: Proscriptions (1985) p.272 (L. Plaetorius Cestianus RE15), p.393-394 (§58 M. Plaetorius RE11; states RE16 cannot be his son, since he held office
when the sons of the proscribed were debarred from office)

Stein: Thracia (1920) p.12-13 (A. Platorius Nepos cos suff 119)
Syme: Tacitus vol. II (1958) p.785 Syme notes that A. Platorius Nepos cos suff 119, cognomen Italicus and tribus Sergia point to Italica or Corduba as home town.
But nomen "Platorius" is Illyrian in origin

Wiseman: New Men (1971) p.251 (§318 L. Plaetorius RE6, §319 L. Plaetorius RE14 and §320 M. Plaetorius Cestianus RE16 with stemma)
Cognomen could indicate a Plaetorius from Tusculum adopting a Cestius from Praeneste.
Zmeskal: adfinitas (2009) p.210-211 (Republican Plaetorii)
Changes 21.01.2018 New header, literature list  plus many updates, incl. adding the Platorii.
